What Is OvertimeCalculator.com.au?
OvertimeCalculator.com.au is a free, mobile-friendly web tool designed to help Australian employees quickly estimate their overtime pay, penalty rates, and casual loading.
The calculator is built for everyday workers who want a simple, transparent way to understand their pay entitlements — without navigating complex award documents or waiting on hold with HR.
General Estimates Only
This tool provides general estimates based on commonly used rates and assumptions. It is not a substitute for official payroll calculations, legal advice, or information provided by your employer or the Fair Work Commission.
Your actual pay may differ depending on your Modern Award, enterprise agreement, individual contract, or the specific provisions that apply to your industry and role.
Always refer to the Fair Work Ombudsman for authoritative guidance on your entitlements.
Not Affiliated with Any Government Body
OvertimeCalculator.com.au is an independent, privately operated website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to:
- The Fair Work Commission
- The Fair Work Ombudsman
- Any Australian state or federal government agency
- Any employer association or union
How the Calculator Works
All calculations happen entirely in your browser. No data you enter is sent to any server or stored anywhere. The tool uses standard overtime logic based on commonly applied award provisions:
- Casual loading applied to the base rate before other calculations
- A configurable overtime trigger (default: 8 hours/day)
- Two-tier overtime: time and a half (1.5×) for the first 2 overtime hours, double time (2.0×) thereafter
- Day-type multipliers for Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays
Advanced users can adjust all of these assumptions using the collapsible settings panel on the main calculator page.
Our Goal
Our goal is simple: give every Australian worker a fast, honest, and easy-to-use tool to understand their pay. Whether you're a nurse checking your public holiday rate, a retail worker wondering about your Sunday shift, or a construction worker tracking your daily overtime — this calculator is for you.
